German cybercrime rose 80 percent in 2016

The German government registered 82,649 cases of computer fraud, espionage and other cybercrime in 2016. Compared to 2015, growth was just over 80 percent from 2015.

German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere is working on a report on new statistics, which should be published in the coming days.

In addition to cybercrime, the German police registered 253,290 crimes committed via the Internet. This figure is more by 3.6% compared to 2015.
